Charisma University Review – Is Charlie Houpert’s Course Worth It? (2026)

Before we begin, let me be honest about something.
I started out with Charisma University a bit skeptical. I had been following Charlie Houpert’s YouTube channel for a while — Charisma on Command has 5+ million subscribers and 500+ million views — and I liked what I was seeing. But wanting free YouTube videos and paying $597 for a full course is two very different things.
So I did every module on my own time. And that is the fair result of such a review.
No bullshit. None of this shit. What's really in there, what works, what doesn't and if it's worth your money.

Who Is Charlie Houpert?
Charlie Houpert is the creator of Charisma on Command, one of the most popular personal development YouTube channels on the web. He studied philosophy, was a dating coach in the early days and from that, he built his platform around one core idea: charisma is not something you’re born with. It’s a set of learnable behaviors that anyone can learn how to do with the right system.
And that’s the basis of Charisma University.
He built the course after running a private coaching program that cost $6,000 for three months of one-on-one work. He wanted to take all that coaching and put it into a program, but a structured program that was more accessible to more people. And that is what Charisma University is.

What's Charisma University?
Charisma University is a self-paced online course that helps you become more socially confident, more engaging in conversation and more naturally charismatic in your personal and professional life.
It runs across a six week structure – meaning that by the end of six weeks the habits of being charismatic have become natural instead of forced.
You get within the course:

6 core modules and 2 bonus modules with 10+ hours of video lessons
Daily action guides - practical exercises you can do between modules to build the habits
Worksheets to facilitate practice at home
Access to private group for accountability and feedback
Lifetime access — including all course updates and additions.

Regular Price: $597 You can get the same full course at a much cheaper price at courseflix.io.

6 Core Modules – What You Really Learn
Module 1: First Impression
This is where the course begins. And honestly, it’s a good foundation.
Charlie focuses on 4 specific emotions that he says you need to trigger when you first meet someone to make sure that you have a good impression. Most people think about what they are going to say – Charlie changes the focus to how you make people feel in those first few moments.
This module contains body language, vocal energy, how to answer common small talk questions so that it creates intrigue instead of killing the conversation, and how to ask questions so the interaction doesn’t feel like an interrogation. One of the most useful teaching formats in the course is video breakdowns of real people making great first impressions.
What I did like: the point that most people try to impress when they should be trying to connect. The first module is worth it for that reframe alone.

Module 2: Self-confidence
This module does something most confidence courses don’t do – it acknowledges that most people don’t lack confidence in everything. They are confident situationally.”
You are probably great in small groups of people you know well. When you find yourself in a high-pressure situation, you probably get nervous. That could be big groups of people, authority figures, people you find attractive or whose opinions matter to you.
This is what Charlie calls “situational confidence” and the module is all about fixing that problem — how to access confidence in the moments when you need it most, not just when you are already comfortable.
These are the most immediately useful exercises in the course. I tried one before a job interview I was nervous about and found a real difference in how I came across.
Fair criticism: some of the examples Charlie uses of confident people lean towards very high energy extroverted personalities. If you tend to be quieter or more introverted you might think, "that's not how I want to come across. The principles are good - but some of the modelling choices are quite divisive.

Module 3: Expert Discussion
In this module we tackle one of the most common social anxieties: what to actually say.
Charlie discusses how to initiate conversations that are self-sustaining, how to transition from superficial small talk to authentic connection, and how to guide conversation to earn respect without steamrolling the other person.
Charlie introduces two modes of conversation. One to get past pleasantries, one to create real depth. That alone helps to clear up a lot of the confusion people have about why some conversations feel empty even though they may go on for a long time.
I liked the bit about not filling every silence with noise but understanding what makes those silences in the first place and dealing with the root cause. You also get practical home exercises to work on before real conversations, which I found genuinely useful for people who feel like they freeze up in social situations.

Module 4: Story telling
This is the best module on the course. Period.
The storytelling module is where Charlie’s teaching shines brightest, stands out most, and is most useful. His central idea – that stories aren’t told to get you from A to Z, but to calibrate constantly to the emotional reaction of your audience – is one of those ideas that sounds obvious in hindsight, but actually changes how you communicate in real time.
He goes through how to take everyday, totally normal things that happened to you and turn them into stories that hold attention. Some of the best storytellers in the world — comedians, speakers, leaders — have their techniques broken down in video, showing you exactly how it’s done.
If this was the only module in the course, it would be worth going through. The storytelling skills you develop here translate to everything: job interviews, dates, presentations, leadership conversations and just being more interesting in day-to-day social settings.

Module 5: Presence & Charisma
This module is about what Charlie calls your "physical presence"—the combination of posture, vocal tone, eye contact, movement, and energy that makes some people walk into a room and immediately draw attention to themselves.
You learn what to do with your eyes, hands and body placement that will project confidence without trying. You also learn how those close to you subconsciously pick up on nervousness — and how to make specific adjustments to negate those signals.
One really good takeaway here: Charlie says you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room or the most expressive to have magnetic presence. It's more about being in absolute charge of your energy – directing it, not leaking it – and that control reads as magnetic no matter who you naturally are.
My honest take: the gap between theory and example is widest for this module. The principles are right. Some of the people Charlie uses as examples of magnetic presence in the videos are incredibly high-energy extroverts that might feel unrelatably over-the-top if that is not your natural style. Capture the principles, and leave some of the specifics behind.

Module 6: Management
The final core module moves you from one-on-one social interactions to influencing and motivating groups of people.
Charlie outlines six personality types and specific ways to influence each type – probably the most directly applicable content for anyone in a professional or managerial environment.
In the module we cover how to motivate people without sounding pushy, how to build real rapport with authority figures (senior colleagues, clients, people whose approval you want) and how to deal with disagreement and conflict in ways that make relationships stronger rather than weaker.
If you are in a leadership position or work in a professional environment where influence is important, this module alone is worth a large part of the value of the course.

Bonus Module 1: Group Dynamics
A focused add-on to the particular difficulties of group social situations—how to join an existing group conversation without awkwardness, how to lead without taking over, and how to make sure that you’re as effective with five people as you are one-on-one.

Bonus Module 2: Relationships at Work
How to build genuine connections with senior people in professional environments – not by networking gimmicks but by the real social skills that make authority figures want to truly invest in you.

What I Really Liked
The format. Charlie explains things well. He takes abstract concepts and translates them into specific, concrete behaviors you can start practicing right away. That matters a lot for a course that is entirely video-based and he is really better at this than most online course creators.
The Story Telling Module. Already answered above. Best thing on the course by a country mile.
The form of everyday activity. The course is not just about dumping information on you and good luck. The daily guides make you practice the material in real life as you go through the material. This is how this stuff really sticks.
The approach to modelling. Throughout the course, Charlie will show you video breakdowns of real people – public figures, celebrities, speakers – so you can see exactly what he is talking about in practice. It makes abstract concepts seem tangible and visible.

What needs to be improved
Some of the examples are too extroverted. Charlie’s nature is high energy and expressive. That’s very charismatic – but it’s one version of charisma. Some of his modelled examples may seem hard to relate to if your natural personality is more measured, calm or quiet. The principles still stand. But the examples can sometimes give the impression that the course is for people who want to be the most energetic person in the room.
Full retail price is high. $597 is a lot of money for a self paced course. If you’re committed, the content delivers what it promises — but at that price point, it’s worth noting that the same course is available through courseflix.io at a fraction of the cost.

So who is Charisma University actually for?
You’ll get the most out of this if you:

You are naturally introverted and shy and want to improve your social skills
You freeze or get visibly nervous in high-stakes social situations — presentations, first dates, meetings with senior people
You notice conversations tend to fizzle out or be shallow and want to know why You want to be a more engaging and memorable person in your career, relationships and social life
You’re in a leadership or client facing role and want to be more influential and persuasive

If it probably isn't what you need:

You are already very socially confident and are looking for advanced power dynamics or persuasion skills
You specifically want to become more measured and gravitas-driven, not more expressive

My General Thoughts
Charisma university is a course that is really well built. Charlie Houpert knows his stuff, explains it well and has put together a programme that creates real, lasting change and not just a short term lift.
Just the storytelling module is worth going through. The confidence module solves a real and common problem in an immediately applicable way. The leadership module is very useful for anyone in a professional environment.
Is this perfect? "Uh-uh. The examples are skewed toward high-energy personalities in ways that may not be to everyone’s taste. But the underlying principles are sound, and the course provides a framework for social skills that you can adapt to your own style.
Want to be more confident, more socially engaging, more naturally charismatic? This course will help you do that. It’s one of the most comprehensive and well produced programs in the personal development space.
